DPC Overview Membership Rates Service/Price List Enrollment Steps Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions:

Q:When will the DPC change take effect?

January 1, 2017

Q:Are you being bought out or merging with a bigger group?

No. Harmony Family Medicine is remaining fully owned by Dr. Kathryn Neely and she will continue to be the sole provider.

Q:Are my appointments scheduled between now and December 31st, 2016 still good?

Yes nothing will change between now and the end of the year.

Q:What about my appointments after the new year?

If you are not enrolled in our new DPC model then your appointments after January 1st will be cancelled.

Q:Will you limit the number of patients in your new DPC practice?

Yes! The maximum number of patients enrolled will be less than a third of what we currently have on our patient panel today. This will allow us to provide more personal care.

Q:If I don't enroll in this new model, do I need to find a new doctor?

Unfortunately yes. You need to secure a new doctor by January 1, 2017. We can transfer records directly to any new doctor you select.

Q:Can I use my Health Savings Account to pay for the membership fees?

Unfortunately you can not currently use HSA dollars to pay for the membership. Although the Affordable Care Act recognizes Direct Primary Care as a viable delivery model the IRS does not recognize it yet. It is therefore classified as "insurance" and you can not pay for the membership with your HSA account. There is a big effort in Washington to get the IRS to align itself with the Affordable Care Act in regards to Direct Primary Care. You can use your HSA for any other service that is not included in the membership.

Q:Does enrolling keep me from getting penalized under the Affordable Care Act?

Direct Primary Care is just for primary care and does not cover any specialist or surgical events. You still need to pair our DPC offering with a Medi-Share, wraparound or catastrophic plan in order to satisfy the requirements of the Affordable Care Act.
